Meet Coach Ava…

My obsession is to level the playing field. Looking back over 40-plus years of working with countless athletes, at least 60% of the athletes were from financially challenged families. As someone who grew up in the housing projects, I knew the choices these families faced all too well. I grew up in the Kam4 and the KPT Housing Projects on the Island of Oahu in Hawaii. As it is for my family, the family's well-being comes first, and foremost without question. Thankfully with the Grace of God, no one was ever denied access to our training sessions, camps, or clinics due to the lack of funds.

In 1988, I embarked on an unofficial entrepreneurial journey centered around the vision that has driven AEP ATHLETICS to what it is today. To provide for anyone willing to commit to working hard, has discipline, is consistent, and loyal, with opportunities to succeed on and, more importantly, off the field.

The goal: First is to help as many athletes as possible to maximize their full potential by making Elite Level Sports Performance training accessible to all, regardless of ethnicity or finances. Provide partnership opportunities with local businesses and organizations for their support and mentoring to ensure that more of our youth will have the options to shape the quality of their futures.

Always grateful that JESUS has blessed me with excellent health and passion, allowing me to work with athletes over the years.

40-plus years later, I'm more excited to learn and share new ideas.

The greatest reward as a coach is seeing the success of the ones you know have busted their butt's week after week and year after year. During the busy spring and summer schedules, they came to work when their peers were distracted by their buddies. During the season, they came on weekends. Their work continued in the freezing winds of Fall and through the frozen snow of winter. They made no excuses. They were committed, Worked hard, Disciplined, and Consistent.

In multiple states, we've had very successful male and female athletes at every level of sports in Youth, High Schools, Colleges, and Professionals. However, it pales compared to the hundreds of athletes who found strength, commitment, and discipline and developed their work habits from sports training.

In the past ten years, well over 200 of our athletes have received athletic scholarships allowing them to continue their academic and athletic pursuits at the collegiate level. Twenty-seven scholarships were for the 2022 and 2023 senior classes.
